Shopify development
From bespoke theme development to custom Shopify apps and ERP integrations, we engineer commerce stores built to convert visitors and handle high traffic spikes.
How we approach Shopify development.
Shopify handles payments, inventory, and fulfilment well. What it does not decide for you is how fast your storefront renders, how your product data reaches the systems that need it, or what happens in the parts of your operation the admin was never designed to cover. That is where custom development earns its cost.
Theme work is mostly a performance discipline. Liquid renders on Shopify servers, so the storefront starts fast; what slows it down is what gets added afterwards: apps that inject scripts on every page, sliders loading full-resolution images, and third-party tags in the critical path. We build themes with a measured budget, then hold new additions to it.
Custom apps cover the operational gaps. A private app can enrich an order the moment it is placed, sync inventory with an ERP, apply pricing rules the admin cannot express, or push fulfilment data where it needs to go. Built on webhooks with verified signatures and idempotent handlers, so a duplicate delivery does not produce a duplicate action.
Where a fully custom front-end is justified, we build headless on the Storefront API with Next.js, keeping Shopify as the commerce engine. This is worth doing for content-heavy or highly interactive storefronts, and not worth doing for a straightforward catalogue, which we will say before the work starts rather than after.
What We Deliver
- Custom Liquid theme development
- Headless Shopify with Next.js
- Private Shopify apps and webhook automations
- Conversion rate and checkout optimization
How we build and deploy.
Structured engagement from initial process audit to live production monitoring.
Store and performance audit
Current theme weight, app script overhead, checkout friction, and the data flows between Shopify and the systems around it.
Theme or storefront build
Custom Liquid sections and blocks, or a headless Next.js storefront on the Storefront API where the requirements justify it.
Custom app and integrations
Private apps for the operational logic the admin cannot express, connected to inventory, fulfilment, and finance systems through verified webhooks.
Conversion and launch
Checkout and product-page instrumentation, structured data, redirect mapping for any migration, and a merchandiser-editable theme handover.
Operational challenges we eliminate.
The store is slow on mobile and apps keep making it slower
We audit what every installed app injects per page, remove or defer what is not earning its cost, and rebuild the theme against a measured performance budget.
Inventory and orders drift out of sync with the back-office system
We build webhook-driven sync with signature verification, idempotent handlers, and a reconciliation job that surfaces discrepancies instead of quietly compounding them.
Every merchandising change needs a developer
We restructure the theme into configurable sections and blocks so the marketing team can build and reorder pages themselves, within defined limits.
Under the hood.
Deep architectural rigor built for software engineers and technical decision-makers.
Section-based theme architecture
Merchandisers compose pages from sections and blocks with defined settings, so campaigns ship without developer time and layouts stay within the design system.
Performance budget enforcement
Image sizing, lazy loading, and deferred third-party scripts held to a measured budget, with app-injected scripts audited for what they actually cost.
Idempotent webhook handling
Order and inventory webhooks verify their signature and are safe to process more than once, so Shopify retries cannot double-charge, double-ship, or double-count.
Structured product data
Product, Offer, and Review schema generated from live catalogue data so rich results reflect real stock status and pricing.
Where this applies.
Custom theme builds and redesigns
A storefront that matches your brand and stays fast, built from sections your team can rearrange without code.
ERP and inventory integration
Two-way sync between Shopify and the system that actually owns your stock and pricing, with reconciliation when they disagree.
Private apps for operational logic
Pricing rules, subscription mechanics, wholesale tiers, or fulfilment routing that the standard admin cannot express.
Headless storefronts
Next.js front-ends on the Storefront API for content-heavy or highly interactive commerce experiences.
Verified delivery standards.

Common questions about Shopify development.
Q.Should we go headless?
Only when there is a concrete reason: a content-heavy storefront, a highly interactive product experience, or an existing front-end team in React. For most catalogues a well-built Liquid theme is faster to launch, cheaper to run, and easier for merchandisers to change.
Q.Can you customise the checkout?
Within what Shopify allows. Shopify Plus supports checkout extensibility and Shopify Functions for discount, delivery, and payment logic. On standard plans, customisation is limited by design, and we will tell you where the line falls before scoping.
Q.Can you migrate our store from another platform?
Yes. Catalogue, customers, and order history migrate with validation on both sides, and we build a complete redirect map so existing search rankings survive the move.
Q.Will installed apps slow the new theme down?
Some will. We audit what each app injects, remove overlapping ones, defer what can be deferred, and where an app is costing more than it returns we replace it with a private app that does only what you need.
